THANK YOU FOR ALTAR FLOWERS. This Sunday, January 19, our altar flowers will be provided by the Garrels family in honor of Kim’s mom’s 88th birthday. On Sunday, January 5, flowers were provided by the Garrels family in honor Dave’s mom’s 90th birthday. Thank you to everyone who keeps our altar looking so beautiful!
MEAL TRAIN FOR THE RYDER FAMILY. As many of you know, Lynn Ryder has an upcoming surgery in early February during which time the Ryder family will need our support. If you are interested in providing a meal for the Ryder family in the wake of Lynn’s surgery to ease their burden, follow the link here to sign up. Thank you, Spirit of Joy!
WE WANT YOUR STORIES OF GENEROSITY! The Inspiration Team (a sub-committee of the Steering Committee for the capital campaign) is on the hunt for stories about generosity! We would like Sunday worshippers to consider the following questions: When were you last in awe witnessing a deeply generous act? What are your earliest memories of someone being generous in your family or community? How have you seen generosity lived out at Spirit of Joy in 2024? We need to hear your story! DRIVERS NEEDED FOR THE INSPIRATION TEAM. Do you have a valid driver’s license and a few spare hours on Sunday, February 2? We need you to be a driver for the Inspiration Team! This task-based opportunity allows you to make a difference in a personal, service-oriented way; this is a one-time service opportunity to drop off a bag of capital campaign goodies to the homes of 8-10 SoJ members and to say hello. This is NOT cold-calling; members will have received a letter explaining that a friendly visitor will be dropping by. You’ll receive a list of addresses located within reasonable proximity. Lunch will be provided at 11am on Sunday, February 2, at Spirit of Joy, during which you will receive instructions and directions and then be on your way! FAMILY-FRIENDLY SERVICE EVENT ON SATURDAY, FEB. 1. Join us on Saturday, February 1, from 9am-11am (leave whenever you need to) for a chance to include your kiddos in community service! This is an all-ages opportunity to serve by sorting food, clothing, and/or prepping Resource Centers in partnership with Serve 6.8. We will meet at The Loveland Yards, just left of Gold’s Gym at 5701 McWhinney Blvd. Please RSVP here to Jill if you have interest.
MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL ROLLER SKATING ON JANUARY 19. Note: this event is replacing the ice skating and ice cream event. Join us at Rollerland in Fort Collins for roller skating from 2-4pm on Sunday, January 19!

WORSHIP PLANNING MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22. Are you interested in helping plan our worship music for Lent and Easter? Join us in the Patience classroom on Wednesday, January 22, at 6:30pm for a worship planning meeting to nail down details for Lent, Holy Week, and Easter.
KIDS OF JOY ON THE SECOND AND FOURTH SUNDAYS! Do you have children aged kindergarten-5th grade? Join us from 10:45am-11:30am on the second and fourth Sundays of the month after worship for Kids of Joy, a fun-filled time with Bible stories, games, crafts, songs, and laughter!
JOIN US FOR REJOICING SPIRITS ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2 AT 3:00PM! Rejoicing Spirits is a “shush-free" monthly worship service intentionally structured to welcome and include people with cognitive disabilities and their families. We worship the first Sunday of every month at 3:00pm. Would you like to volunteer for Rejoicing Spirits as a greeter, usher, for fellowship, or for the soundboard? We request that you come at 2:30pm on the Sunday for which you volunteer. Join us in making a joyful noise!
SPRING NEWSLETTER SUBMISSIONS DUE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3. Do you have an upcoming service opportunity that you’d like to share with our SoJ community? Would you like to publicly thank someone at SoJ? Consider sending in a submission for our spring edition of our Tidings of Joy newsletter. Please email all submissions to our office by Monday, February 3.
MEN’S HAPPY HOUR THE SECOND THURSDAY OF THE MONTH. Join us for a Men’s Happy Hour! We meet at various locations in the Fort Collins/Loveland/Timnath/Windsor area on the second Thursday of each month. We start at 4:00 p.m. and finish around 5:30 so everyone is home in time for dinner. Please reach out with any questions to Charlie.
MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL TRAMPOLINE PARK EXCURSION. Middle school and high school youth are invited out for an evening at the trampoline park on Sunday, February 16 from 6-8pm. Event will be held at Fly High.
DO YOU KNIT OR CROCHET? YOUR SKILLS ARE NEEDED! We are in dire need of prayer shawls for this ministry! Prayer shawls are provided for anyone in need of the warmth and love of Jesus wrapped around their shoulders. No special occasion required! Instructions and information on making a prayer shawl are in the brochure rack in the foyer. There is also a group “Joyful Hands” that meets multiple times monthly on Saturday mornings at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on Lemay Avenue. Contact Judy Fletcher here for more information. We also have kits with yarn ready for prayer shawls available so you will have the yarn furnished. Thank you for your support!
SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER FOR SUNDAY FELLOWSHIP TIME. Would you like to bring in treats for our Spirit of Joy community and help serve our congregation? Sign up to help with Sunday fellowship time here. Fellowship volunteers bring treats for serving after our 9:30am Sunday worship service. They prepare coffee and set out the coffee and tea service, and serve and refresh coffee and treats after the service. Finally, they clean up the kitchen at the end of fellowship time. Thank you so much for volunteering for this ministry!
SIGN UP FOR A COMMUNITY GROUP FOR 2024-2025! Are you looking for a way to get better connected at Spirit of Joy? Community Groups are groups of 8-10 people who meet 3 times per month, September thru May. Two of the meetings are spiritual conversations and one is a fellowship event. Groups do not meet the first week of the month, as that week is reserved for members to participate in community service. Join this fantastic ministry to grow in faith and fellowship. OFFICE HOURS. The Spirit of Joy office will be open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The Office Administrator will be available remotely from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays and may be reached at office@sojoyfc.org. The office will be closed Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
