Welcome Statement

RIC logo

When we break bread together at Spirit of Joy, we like to say, "This is God's table, not ours."
We believe this invitation and theology extend to everything we do inside and outside our church building.
All are welcome!
We welcome the LGBTQ+ community as well as those of any nation, age, ability, ethnicity, belief, economic class, gender and others who have been hurt, estranged, or made to feel outside the family of God. We remember that what holds us together is not uniformity of thought, doctrine, race, gender, sexual orientation, or politics, but the grace of God!

Holding Hands Worship, Study, Service

Welcome to all

At Spirit of Joy we welcome visitors and new members of our worshipping community.

You can be yourself

You will be comfortable here in blue jeans or a jacket and tie, shorts or a skirt, flip flops or heels. Children are welcome in worship, although we have a staffed nursery at Sunday services for you to use if you would be more comfortable worshipping without your little ones.

You won't get lost in the service

Our worship bulletins contain our entire service each week, and each person can follow along, from beginning to end, participating as much or as little as he or she chooses. Large print worship bulletins are also available. Hearing enhancement devices are available as well.

You are welcome at the table

Our Lord's Supper (Holy Communion) is celebrated at all worship services. We have individual cups of wine or grape juice and also a common cup, which contains wine. Gluten-free bread is available. All are welcome at Holy Communion, including children. If you do not wish for your children to receive communion, you may bring them forward for a blessing.

We have a variety of worship styles

Our Saturday evening worship is generally a piano-led worship with a sung Evening Prayer structure in a relaxed, informal setting. Our 8:30 Sunday service rotates among several liturgical styles, from bluegrass to country to more traditional. It is sometimes led by an acoustic band and sometimes piano-led. Our 11:00am service is a more contemporary service, incorporating current popular Christian music.
