DONATE A GERANIUM TO DECORATE THE ALTAR FOR PENTECOST. Help us decorate the altar for Pentecost! Sign-up sheet may be found in the lobby of Spirit of Joy. The cost for each red geranium is $8. You may designate for whom the geranium is given. Please place your order by Wednesday, May 5, 2023.
IT’S ETCHED IN STONE. It’s graduation time! Celebrate that special occasion of a graduation, baptism, or any occasion with a memory stone in our memory walk. The memory walk is located out the west door of our educational wing. Information on memory stones is located in the brochure rack in the foyer or contact Kip McCalla here or Judy Fletcher here.
MEN’S HAPPY HOUR DATE CHANGE. Men’s happy hour has been changed from Thursday, May 9 to Thursday, May 16. Please email Charlie with any questions!
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP SPREAD MULCH AT SPIRIT OF JOY. Join us on Saturday, May 18, for Free Mulch Day! We will be getting a delivery of mulch to the Spirit of Joy garden and grounds and we need volunteers to help spread mulch. Please arrive at 9:00am. Thank you!
DO YOU KNIT OR CROCHET? YOUR SKILLS ARE NEEDED! We are in dire need of prayer shawls for this ministry! Prayer shawls are provided for anyone in need of the warmth and love of Jesus wrapped around their shoulders. No special occasion required! Instructions and information on making a prayer shawl are in the brochure rack in the foyer. There is also a group “Joyful Hands” that meets multiple times monthly on Saturday mornings at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on Lemay Avenue. Contact Judy Fletcher here for more information. We also have kits with yarn ready for prayer shawls available so you will have the yarn furnished. Thank you for your support!
WEAR RED FOR PENTECOST ON SUNDAY, MAY 19. Pentecost this year is on Sunday, May 19. Join us in worship at 9:30am and wear red - the color of the Holy Spirit!

THANK YOU, NORM SKADBURG, FOR YOUR 15+ YEARS OF SERVICE. Join us this Sunday at the Annual Meeting to recognize the amazing work that Norm Skadburg has done for Spirit of Joy for over 15 years as our treasurer. We have been so lucky to enjoy Norm’s gifts for so long and we cannot thank him enough! Jan Loomis will be taking over as our new treasurer and we are thrilled to have him. Welcome, Jan!
THANK YOU BEN HAUGESTUEN AND STAN TORVIK. Thank you to Ben Haugestuen and Stan Torvik for the term they each served on Spirit of Joy’s council these past three years! Thank you both for your dedication, time, passion, thoughtful contributions, and commitment to Spirit of Joy. We have been lucky to have you! Ben and Stan’s terms ended on March 31 with our fiscal year.
JOIN US FOR REJOICING SPIRITS ON SUNDAY, JUNE 2 AT 3:00PM! Rejoicing Spirits is a “shush-free" monthly worship service intentionally structured to welcome and include people with cognitive disabilities and their families. We will worship the first Sunday of every month at 3:00pm. Our next worship service will be Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 3:00pm. Would you like to volunteer for Rejoicing Spirits as a greeter, usher, for fellowship, or for the soundboard? Four greeters, two ushers, two people for fellowship, and one soundboard person are needed for each Sunday. We request that you come at 2:30pm on the Sunday for which you volunteer. Join us in making a joyful noise!

SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER FOR SUNDAY FELLOWSHIP TIME. Would you like to bring in treats for our Spirit of Joy community and help serve our congregation? Sign up to help with Sunday fellowship time here. Fellowship volunteers bring treats for serving after our 9:30am Sunday worship service. They prepare coffee and set out the coffee and tea service, and serve and refresh coffee and treats after the service. Finally, they clean up the kitchen at the end of fellowship time. Thank you so much for volunteering for this ministry!

OFFICE HOURS. The Spirit of Joy office will be open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The Office Administrator will be available remotely from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays and may be reached at office@sojoyfc.org. The office will be closed Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
